Editing the starter cars in NFS: Heat

IF YOU SOMEHOW FOUND THIS BLOGPOST, NOTE THAT MOST CARS CRASH THE GAME!

Before we begin

  • This guide assumes that you know how to use the Frosty Toolsuite with NFS Heat on a basic level
  • You should back up your current savefile at Documents\Need for Speed Heat\SaveGame and start a new save when changing starter cars.
  • As of writing, Frosty does NOT work with NFS Heat on Xbox Game Pass for PC and/or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

You will need

Finding the starter cars

  1. Open Frosty Editor and NFS Heat in it
  2. Search for contains: NarrativeCampaign_Chapter1_MeetDay AND type: GameModeBlueprint
  3. Open the only result you get

  4. Go to Object -> Components

    • [24] is the starter Ford Mustang
    • [25] is the starter BMW M3 E30
    • [26] is the starter Nissan 180SX
    • [59] is Papi's Camaro

Replacing the starter cars with stock (unmodified) cars

  1. Search for type: RaceVehicleItemData. You should see a folder for almost every car in the game.
    1. Find the RaceVehicleItemData file of the car you want to use and highlight it in the file explorer. In this case, I will be replacing the starter Ford Mustang with a stock Honda NSX.

  2. Go back to the opened NarrativeCampaign_Chapter1_MeetDay file and click the little arrow next to the VehicleItem of the car you want to replace while the RaceVehicleItemData file is highlighted. This should assign your car of choice.

  3. Click on the 3 dots in the line of the car's TemplateItem and select Clear assigned object. This removes the template from the car so it won't appear broken. If you did it right, the TemplateItem should say (null).
    • Note: if a TemplateItem doesn't match the VehicleItem it was made for, the car will appear missing most of its parts and incorrect performace items.

  4. Untick the checkbox after MakeStock.
Launch the game, start a new career and you should see your stock car as a starter car.
